About
Storytelling & inspiration
Behind Un mot du cœur is Shirleen Jiang, a young French professional of Chinese heritage who has always lived in the Paris region.
I am an illustrator and stationery designer creating for those who seek what is true, good and beautiful. Trained as a philosopher and enriched by the international outlook that comes with languages, I soon felt a desire to pass on what I had received through teaching and educational work in a variety of settings. Un mot du cœur is a new entrepreneurial and artistic path that I am pursuing alongside my work in higher education.
On the artistic side, drawing, visual arts and a wider interest in art have been with me since childhood and never truly let go. I once considered studying art, but I could not see myself devoting my entire life to that field, however important a place it has always held for me. Instead, I continued to nurture this artistic side as a self-taught artist, guided by the advice of many other artists.
On the philosophical side, life led me very early on to ask deep questions and to seek rigorous, truthful answers. Studying philosophy may have seemed at odds with society’s expectations, yet I quickly discovered how much it could bring to my personal, social, professional and cultural life. Every facet of life is involved, because everything that makes up reality can become an object of philosophical inquiry. Philosophy is not detached from life when our approach remains grounded in reality, beginning with it and returning to it.
The Un mot du cœur brand
The project grew from a desire I had carried for several years: to bring different disciplines together. It creates a new space for free expression where philosophy meets art, the search for truth meets the expression of beauty, and intellectual depth meets the emotion stirred by the senses. Other fields — literature, poetry, music, science, history and more — can join them freely, as long as the intention remains aligned with the values and vision of Un mot du cœur. What does that mean? Seeking gentleness and lightness; creating a world shaped by a love of what is vibrant, refined and uplifting. Opening our eyes, nurturing the sensitive and intellectual life within every person, growing, helping others grow, rising and finding wonder.
Through my work, I want to help each person live a life that feels more inwardly illuminated, more deeply savoured and more peaceful. If my creations can bring an added touch of soul to those who encounter them, I will have met my challenge.
It is a challenge we will write together through a shared work: may you and I find, in words, patterns and colours, an expression of our happiness.
